One of the most important tenets for good health in contemporary living is to fight obesity through exercise, diet and, in severe cases, medical treatment. Obesity is known to cause a plethora of health problems like increased risk of heart disease and stroke, hypertension, osteoarthritis, gout and various respiratory disorders.
A Pan-Indian study published in the Journal of Public Health Nutrition throws new light on a key component of the battle against obesity – cooking oil. This study covered 638,445 women and 92,312 men, dividing them into two groups: one that predominantly consumed Mustard Oil and another that predominantly consumed refined oils.
The study found that the prevalence of obesity/being overweight was significantly lower in the Mustard Oil consuming group.
These findings are in conformity with another laboratory study published in the Asian Journal of Clinical Nutrition which found that the consumption of Mustard Oil was associated with low body weight gain, less visceral fat accumulation, and improved glucose and lipid homeostasis.
There is another study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition that indicates that the consumption of foods with high levels of Omega-3 Fatty Acids helps in the prevention of obesity. How does this line up with the studies mentioned earlier? Well, Mustard Oil is one of the richest plant-based sources of Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
All these studies corroborate the fact that the consumption of cold-pressed Mustard Oil is an effective weapon in the battle against obesity. And all you need to do is to make Mustard Oil your primary cooking medium. Follow the science!
