Mustard Oil: A Powerhouse of Health Benefits

Mustard Oil offers such a dazzling powerhouse of health benefits that some of these benefits appear too good to be true. One such incredible claim is that cold-pressed Mustard Oil can be used for preventing and even treating cancer. Mind-boggling, isn’t it?

Cancer Prevention and Treatment with Mustard Oil

Well, as far as the cancer treatment angle is concerned, it is true – Mustard Oil is currently being used in the treatment of certain types of cancers like colon cancer, colorectal cancer and intestinal cancer. In some parts of the world, doctors are using it even in breast cancer treatment. Scientists and medical researchers have carried out specific tests in the domain of oncology that clearly demonstrate the anti-carcinogenic properties of Mustard Oil and its application in targeted chemotherapy.

One such study published in the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine indicates that a compound called Allyl Isothiocyanate (AITC) has powerful and unique anti-inflammatory properties that demonstrate a retardant effect on cancer cells. In fact, the researchers were able to demonstrate this action comprehensively using multiple cell cultures.

The tumour-reducing properties of cold-pressed Mustard Oil were reiterated in another study published in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine which highlighted the capabilities of Mustard Oil in successfully shrinking tumours and curtailing their growth and proliferation.

Anti-Inflammatory Benefits Beyond Cancer

Another research report published in the Public Library of Science (PLOS) journal indicates that the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of AITC can effectively be leveraged in the treatment and control of colitis – a medical condition in which the colon becomes infected and inflamed. This anti-inflammatory attribute of Mustard Oil also makes it extremely useful in the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Research findings like these provide compelling reasons for adopting a completely new perspective on cold-pressed Mustard Oil. It is time to stop treating it as just another cooking oil and instead appreciating its multifaceted capabilities in cardiovascular health, cholesterol control, triglyceride balancing, blood pressure regulation, gastrointestinal health – and, of course, cancer prevention.
