Ingredients for Popcorn Chicken
Chicken Breast – 1 lb (450–500 grams), cut into bite-sized pieces
P Mark Mustard Oil – 4 tbsp
Paprika (or Red Chili Powder) – ½ to 1½ teaspoons (adjust to taste)
Salt – ¾ to 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Ground Black Pepper – ½ teaspoon
Onion Powder – 1 teaspoon (optional)
Garlic Powder – 1½ teaspoons (or 1 teaspoon minced garlic)
All-Spice Powder (or Garam Masala) – ½ teaspoon (optional)
Yogurt (Plain, Unflavored) – 2 tablespoons
Egg Whites – 2
Corn Starch (White Corn Flour) – ½ cup
Bread Crumbs or Panko Crumbs – 1½ cups
Method for Popcorn Chicken
In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces with paprika, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, all-spice powder, and yogurt. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
In a bowl, lightly beat the egg whites.
Place the corn starch in a separate shallow dish.
Spread the bread crumbs or panko crumbs on a plate.
Take each marinated chicken piece and dredge it in the corn starch, ensuring it's fully coated.
Dip the corn starch-coated chicken into the beaten egg whites.
Roll the chicken pieces in the bread crumbs, pressing gently so the crumbs adhere well.
Place the coated chicken pieces on a plate and let them rest for about 5 minutes to set the coating.
Heat P Mark Kacchi Ghani Mustard Oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
Carefully add the coated chicken pieces in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry for about 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried chicken and drain on paper towels.
Your Popcorn Chicken is ready! Serve it with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mayonnaise, or a creamy sweet chili sauce.
