This week, we are spotlighting another participant of Homechef Season 2, Maira-binti-shafi and sharing their recipe for Shahi Tukda with you. Shahi Tukda, a royal Mughlai dessert, beautifully combines the richness of saffron-infused milk and the crunch of fried bread.
This classic dish is perfect for festive occasions and special gatherings. You can serve it chilled or warm based on your preference.

Ingredients for Shahi Tukda
Bread: 5 pcs
P Mark Kachi Ghani Mustard oil: 3 tbsp
Milk: 1/2 ltr
Milkmaid: 5 tbsp
Green Cardamom: 5
Saffron: 3-4 strings
Almond: 7-9
Cashew: 7-9
Sugar: 1 cup
Water: 1/2 ltr
Method for Shahi Tukda
Pour the milk into a pot and bring it to a boil.
Add saffron, green cardamom, and condensed milk.
Continuously stir until it thickens into malai.
In a separate pot, combine water and sugar to make a sugar syrup.
Heat P Mark Mustard Oil in a kadhai.
Split each bread slice into two parts and fry them in the kadhai.
Once the bread pieces have cooled, soak them in the sugar syrup.
Remove the bread pieces from the syrup and garnish with malai, almonds, and cashews.
Your Shahi Tukda is ready to serve!
